Position Summary — Accretive Technology Group has adopted a compliance-first approach to its daily operations. The Legal Department has been charged with ensuring compliance across ATG’s products and our business partners. ATG sees the work done in compliance as a competitive advantage. With the ever-changing landscape of regulations, requirements, and rules, the legal department is fast-moving and dedicated to providing guidance to the executive committee relating to compliance with these matters. Key Responsibilities —
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and help mitigate compliance risks across U.S. and international business operations
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry requirements, including BSA, AML/KYC, OFAC (U.S. and international), card brand requirements, the Digital Services Act, and other applicable regulatory frameworks
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, policies, procedures, and internal controls that promote regulatory compliance across the organization
  • Conduct legal and compliance risk assessments for new products, business initiatives, partnerships, and operational changes, recommending practical solutions that support business objectives while mitigating risk
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research, monitor emerging compliance requirements, and evaluate potential business impacts
Legal Counsel & Regulatory Guidance
  • Provide practical legal and compliance counsel by interpreting evolving regulatory requirements, assessing legal risks, and advising internal stakeholders on business initiatives
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and business leaders to help ensure products, services, and platform features are developed in compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop policies, procedures, and operational practices that strengthen compliance and support effective risk management
  • Deliver clear, practical guidance that enables informed business decisions while maintaining regulatory compliance
Privacy & Data Protection
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in overseeing data privacy and data protection compliance, including regulatory assessments, policy development, privacy-related controls, and ongoing compliance initiatives
Contracts & Legal Operations
  • Support vendor procurement by reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and assessing legal and compliance risks associated with vendor agreements and commercial contracts
  • Manage legal process matters, including subpoenas, writs of garnishment, and other service of process requests
  • Prepare documentation and supporting materials for audits, regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and other legal and compliance initiatives

Qualifications and Education Requirements —
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent degree with active bar membership in good standing preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in anti-money laundering (AML), financial crimes compliance, regulatory compliance, or a related legal function
  • Extensive knowledge of BSA, AML/KYC, OFAC (U.S. and international), card brand requirements, the Digital Services Act, and other applicable regulatory frameworks
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, banking law, privacy law, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to assess legal and compliance risks, exercise sound judgment, and provide practical, business-focused legal advice
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong business acumen, professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with AML Insight, HighQ, Westlaw, or similar legal and compliance management platforms is preferred

A reasonable, good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum pay for this position is $170,000 to $200,000. The successful candidate’s placement within this range is dependent on a variety of factors, such as qualifications and level of professional experience. Employees in this position may be eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary profit sharing program.
